According to state administrative code (N.J.A.C.6:8-4.5(a)4i), “The district shall make provisions for identifying students with gifted and talented abilities and for providing them with an educational program and services.”  The Delaware Valley Regional High School District defines “Gifted and Talented” students as those students who are capable of high academic performance and who require differentiated programs and/or facilities beyond those normally provided in order to fully develop their gifts and talents, lead more satisfying lives, and enhance the quality of life in their communities.  DVRHS offers a range of programs to meet the needs of these students.

Gifted and Talented Programs:

  • Honors Classes: Grades 9-12

  • Advanced Placement Classes: Grades 9-12

  • Independent Study or Practicum Program

  • DVRHS Academy Programs

    • Arts

    • Biomedical Science

    • Computer Science

    • Engineering

    • International Studies

  • Academic Clubs:  Grades 9-12

    • National Honor Society

    • Science National Honor Society

    • Tri-M Music Honor Society

    • FBLA- Future Business Leaders of America

Procedures used to identify students for consideration as gifted and talented:

  • Teachers make course recommendations and identify students for participation in special programs

  • School counselors and administrators review grades and standardized test scores to determine which students should be part of the gifted and talented program

  • Invitations to apply will be sent by the individual honor societies based upon their established criteria.

  • Students apply for enrollment in Academy Programs beginning November 2024.

Criteria used for consideration for eligibility for the gifted and talented services:

  • Course grades (ongoing)

  • Standardized test scores (ongoing)

  • Placement assessments

  • Teacher recommendations (December)

  • Successful completion of prerequisite courses

  • Application criteria (honor societies)
